Dr. Menglin Liu is an Assistant Professor of Computational Social Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, with a courtesy appointment as Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Davis. Her research interests include computational social science, reinforcement learning and agentic AI systems, large language models, and multimodal AI for social science applications. Dr. Liu currently serves as a National AI Expert for the UNICEF China Country Office, leading the design of a responsible AI-assisted evidence synthesis pipeline to support policy evaluation on child education and health. She is also Lead Scientist for AI Safety Standards at the Shenzhen AI Industry Association (SAIIA), where she leads the drafting of an industry standard for security evaluation of AI agents. She developed PoliPrompt, a Python package for reliable and cost-effective LLM-based text classification. Her peer-reviewed work has appeared in journals such as Local Government Studies and Cities, and she has presented at major conferences including APSA, MPSA, and the Society for Political Methodology.
