Prof. Jordi Vallverdú /Professor

Prof. Dr. Jordi Vallverdú is a Full Professor of Philosophy of Science & Computing in the Department of Philosophy at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2002 and has developed a globally recognized research program at the intersection of philosophy of AI, causality, cognitive architectures, unconventional computing, and affective human‑robot interaction. He is the author or editor of nine academic books, including Causality for Artificial Intelligence: From a Philosophical Perspective (2024) and Prompting Causal Events (2025), and has published over 100 Scopus‑indexed articles, achieving an h‑index of 26 and more than 2,600 Google Scholar citations. He is a former ICREA Acadèmia Research Fellow (2020–2025) and currently serves as President‑Elect of the International Society for the Study of Information (IS4SI). He also acts as an expert on the Ethics and Equality Committee of the EU Horizon project PILLAR‑Robots. His interdisciplinary work spans causal inference, neurodiverse AI, quantum‑inspired cognition, and the philosophy of deep learning, making him a leading voice at the crossroads of philosophy and advanced computational systems.
